United Nations, Showbox Partner to Drive Awareness of Human Rights

Innovation News from Startup TechWire
NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The United Nations is rolling out a new social video campaign in the lead-up to the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) in 2018. Showbox (www.showbox.com), a company offering a cloud-based platform that allows brands to create high-quality videos at scale, is collaborating with the United Nations for the campaign. As part of the UN’s initiative to increase global awareness of human rights, anyone around the globe can now use Showbox’s video creation platform, via the UN website (www.un.org/en/udhr-video), to record and submit videos of themselves reciting any of the 30 articles of the declaration in any of the 135 languages currently available on the platform.

December 2018 marks the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In the lead-up to that milestone, the UN is asking the global community to contribute in creating a multilingual online video collection. Using the UDHR video creation site powered by Showbox, anyone can simply record themselves reciting the declaration, in their own language to be included in the campaign.

Showbox’s cloud-based video creation platform enables users to create and distribute short-form videos. Using Showbox, users can customize graphic themes including transitions, virtual studios, free stock footage, and online green screen features.

Anyone is invited to go to the UN website, select a language and an article from the declaration, and record themselves using Showbox’s technology. Approved videos will be posted on the UN website, enabling anyone, anywhere to easily watch any part of the declaration in their native language.

Showbox was founded in 2013 by Effi Atad and Tomer Afek. It is a cloud-based video creation platform for brands and video creators to make and distribute high quality videos to engage their followers, scale their creations, track videos and views, and ensure brand integrity. Showbox won the 2016 Publicis90 award for a promising digital startup.
