The awards, known as The Beacons, will be presented to more than 20 companies and organizations, as well as seven individual leaders. Applicants do not need to be members of NCTA to be recognized, and the application deadline is July 15, 2016.

“The NC Tech Awards recognize and honor companies, organizations and individuals that have shown exemplary leadership in the tech sector or in the use of technology,” said Brooks Raiford, President and CEO of NCTA.”

Raiford added that “both member and non-member organizations are encouraged to nominate or apply; The Beacons are designed to recognize excellence across all sectors.”

Individuals, companies, organizations and institutions can be nominated by third parties or apply directly. Nomination and application instructions, deadlines, and online forms are posted at

Award finalists, which are announced in mid-late September, are selected by a review committee comprised of non-profit, media, education, and technology leaders representing various regions of the state.

The awards will once again recognize a “Technology Executive of the Year,” which will be decided by popular vote through an online poll.

Title Sponsor for the NC Tech Awards is Cherry Bekaert. A variety of sponsorship and visibility options are available, including the opportunity to present one of the awards at the annual NC Tech Awards Gala on November 10, 2016.  Details are available at
