Innovate Raleigh Announces the 4th Annual Summit with a Focus on Inclusivity

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The 2015 Innovate Raleigh Summit will take place at Market Hall from 1:30 to 7:30pm on Thursday, September 10th. The event, an annual conference aimed at connecting and engaging Raleigh’s innovation stakeholders, will explore the topic of inclusivity, with a focus on city and community development, as well as organizational diversity. Following check-in and lunch, attendees will hear a panel discussion with Raleigh’s leading edge developers, including John Kane with Kane Realty, Patrice Gilmore with Holt Brothers Construction and John Holmes with Hobby Properties. Attendees will learn how these major developers can help shape the city’s identity and foster interconnectivity among our various communities while managing the area’s fast-paced growth.

Summit-goers will also explore the theme of inclusivity from an organizational perspective. This year’s keynote is Nzinga Shaw, the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer of the Atlanta Hawks and Philips Arena organization, and former SVP of Diversity and Inclusion at Edelman. Shaw will share insight into how organizations of all sizes, from startups to corporations, can position inclusivity, cultural awareness and sensitivity as a core component of their business practices, growth and profitability.

Shaw and several of the panelists will stay on to participate in a new Summit component titled Innovate Raleigh’s Leadership Lab. Twenty-five facilitators, all owners and executives from companies such as Epic Games, Wells Fargo, Rex Healthcare, MetLife, Lonerider Beer, Mint Design blog and more, will share lessons learned on their journey to building or working with a successful business. Each Summit attendee will have the unique opportunity to converse with three facilitators in small group sessions.

The event closes with a networking happy hour at Market Hall from 6:00 to 7:30pm.
