Sessions run from basic to advanced, with attendees gaining valuable insight whether an entry level advisor or a partner in a firm. Trending topics will be discussed at length by experts, focusing on the ever-changing rules surrounding divorce settlements which have transformed drastically over the past few years, especially with the legality surrounding same-sex marriage and, subsequently, same-sex divorce.

Additionally, the conference is a great way to network with fellow divorce professionals from around the country, with past attendees reporting they have been able to make connections at the IDFA Conference that they are able to utilize for guidance at a later date.

Founded in 1993, IDFA provides specialized training to accounting, financial, and legal professionals in the field of pre-divorce financial planning. Over the years, the organization has certified more than 5,000 professionals in the U.S. and Canada as CDFA professionals.

Benefits of getting the CDFA designation include:

- Differentiation your peers. Most of certificants hold the CFP or CPA designation or something similar. Adding the CDFA credential to the resume ensures that they stand out.

- Serving in an every growing niche industry. As unfortunate as it may be, people will always be going through a divorce. Certificants add to their book of business by serving the divorce niche.

- The ability to become an expert. Clients going through a divorce would rather do business with a divorce financial expert over a general financial expert. The CDFA designation proves to clients that certificants received a quality education specifically in divorce and are prepared to handle their settlement.

- The ability to be prepared. Financial professionals more often than not experience clients going through a divorce. With the CDFA designation, they’ll be prepared to help them through the complexities of the divorce process.

The CDFA designation is awarded by IDFA to financial professionals, accountants, or matrimonial lawyers with a minimum of three years' experience who successfully complete a series of self-study course modules and pass an exam for module topics including financial and legal issues of divorce; advanced financial issues of divorce; tax issues of divorce; and working as a CDFA: case studies.
