Wilson Event to Showcase Sustainability in Manufacturing

WILSON, N.C. -- On Thursday, March 26, 2015, NCEast Alliance President & CEO John D. Chaffee, and Bridgestone Tires’ Wilson Plant Manager, Michael Darr, will speak about the plant's highly successful sustainability initiatives. The plant has been awarded ISO 50001 (Energy Management) certification and has achieved "zero waste to landfill" status, as validated by Underwriters Laboratories (UL). Zero waste to landfill is the highest claim validation UL gives for landfill waste diversion, and Bridgestone’s Wilson plant is the first facility of any kind to receive this designation.

The event, titled "Sustainability in Manufacturing: Sharing Environmental, Energy and Waste Reduction Practices" will be held from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at Wilson Community College. Bridgestone will offer morning and afternoon tours of its nearby 2 million square foot facility, with complimentary shuttles for attendees.

Registration is required to attend this free event, which is sponsored by NC State University Industrial Extension Service, Wilson Economic Devlopment Council and WST Industries. Attendees will be able to select a preferred tour time during registration.
