Flywheel Announces DataMax Speaker Series

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Flywheel, a coworking space located at 525@Vine in Wake Forest Innovation Quarter, will host Jason Caplain as event keynote of the DataMax Speakers Series March 17. Caplain is cofounder and general partner of Bull City Venture Partners (BCVP), a Durham-based venture capital fund. In 2014, BCVP raised nearly $26 million for a third fund focused on early stage technology startups.   BCVP’s limited partners include locally-based corporations such as Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NC, Capitol Broadcasting Company, Cisco, and Red Hat, as well as large national players like Grosvenor Capital Management, Industry Ventures and VC Brad Feld.

NCTechNews is published by Innovative Public Relations, Inc. (www.innovativepublicrelations.com), a Research Triangle-based consultancy providing PR and media relations services to help clients achieve their business development and organizational goals. NCTechNews supplements quality reporting provided by respected media outlets throughout North Carolina and the United States.

Caplain’s presentation will outline BCVP’s approach to working with founders and limited partners and will explore the current venture capital landscape—from both the investor and entrepreneur perspective.

Caplain is actively involved with portfolio companies ReverbNation, Etix, Zift Solutions, WeddingWire, and DoublePositive Marketing Group. Peter Marsh, one of the Flywheel’s founders, said Flywheel is pleased to host Caplain as part of their entrepreneurship mission. One of Flywheel’s core offerings includes guidance for entrepreneurial ventures and startup processes.

"In order for the Triad to successfully ramp up our speed, quantity, and quality of startup companies, we need to have a pipeline of startup ideas with viable teams, and we must have a focus on venture capital fund formation for pre-revenue stage companies,” Marsh said. “Jason Caplain and his partners are experienced investors who can help our community better understand the ingredients for success.”
