Robert Rehm Selected to Serve on the US Patent and Trademark Office's Pro Bono Advisory Council

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Robert Rehm, an attorney in Smith Anderson’s Intellectual Property practice group, has been selected to serve on the United States Patent and Trademark Office's (USPTO) Pro Bono Advisory Council, a committee of practitioners that provides support and guidance to, and facilitates various aspects of, the USPTO's Pro Bono Patent Program.

The Pro Bono Patent Program commenced in early 2014 as part of the America Invents Act with the goal of providing free legal assistance to under-resourced inventors interested in securing patent protection for their inventions. At the national level, the Pro Bono Advisory Council collaborates with local intellectual property law associations to establish pro bono legal programs to assist financially-under-resourced inventors and small businesses in pursuing and securing patent protection for their inventions and discoveries.
