NC Bankers Association Calls for Eyeglass Donations

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The North Carolina Bankers Association (NCBA) has partnered with Lions Club International’s recycle for sight initiative for its fall outreach program. As one of the major undertakings of the Lions Club, recycle for sight aims to prevent avoidable blindness on a global scale and works to restore the sight of millions of people through sight screening, eyeglass recycling, vaccinations and more. The NCBA has called upon its member banks and affiliate members to collect eyeglasses from employees, customers and members of the community in support of the Lions Club and individuals in need throughout North Carolina. The Lions Club accepts prescription and reading glasses, sunglasses and plastic and metal frames. The NCBA will accept donations now through Friday, Nov. 7.

"The NCBA is proud to support the Lions Club in its initiative to help improve sight and eye health throughout North Carolina and all institutions participating in their community outreach will accept donations now through Friday, Nov. 7.” said Thad Woodard, president and CEO of the North Carolina Bankers Association. “Clear vision means a better education, especially for the children in our communities. We are asking for our North Carolina banks and affiliates to turn this program into a fun campaign for their bank or company. Your recycled glasses may change someone’s life,” Woodard concluded.

Once participating banks have a full box of eyeglasses, that package can be shipped to the NCBA at P.O. Box 19999, Raleigh, NC. The NCBA will deliver all eyeglasses to a receiving center in North Carolina in November.

The North Carolina Bankers Association brings together all categories of banking institutions that best represent the interests of our rapidly changing state. The state’s banks have provided support to their communities since 1864. Look for a current listing at www.ncba.com.
