Business and Technology Attorney Henry Kopf Addresses Investors Roundtable of Wilmington

WILMINGTON & RALEIGH, N.C. -- Revolution Law (, a boutique firm providing collaborative legal services and advice to help move businesses forward, is pleased to announce that founder and attorney Henry Kopf recently addressed 100+ attendees at the October 2 meeting of the Investors Roundtable of Wilmington. Kopf presented individually and also served on a panel with Jim Roberts, executive director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) at UNC-Wilmington.

“Here in North Carolina we are seeing a trend toward alternative sources of funding supporting startups outside of traditional venture capital models, a topic which was of interest to Roundtable attendees,” Kopf said.

The panel discussion centered on key things angel investors should look for in evaluating potential investments, how angels can find interesting startups, and how they can assist startups beyond just providing funding.

In his individual presentation, Kopf provided an overview the current environment for entrepreneurism in the state, including the growth in non-traditional angels (individual angels acting outside of funds or angel groups), funding needs of startups and how angel investors can assist, and reviewed fund raising options under the Jobs Act.

“It was extraordinarily helpful to have Jim provide a local Wilmington perspective by explaining the how the CIE supports local startups, while Henry shared important funding issues from a statewide prospective and explained how non-traditional angels can assist startups,” said Paul Patterson, Investors Roundtable of Wilmington board member, who moderated the panel discussion.

The Investors Roundtable of Wilmington provides educational forums for the presentation and exchange of financial, economic, and business information related to managing financial assets. The group hosts speakers who are recognized leaders in their respective fields, presenting on subjects relevant to the current investment environment.

This is the third recent event featuring Kopf, a licensed attorney and inventor on four U.S. patents and corresponding international patents who co-founded businesses focused on development and commercialization of technology used for the filtration, purification and separations of liquids for biotechnology and pharmaceutical applications.

In September, Kopf presented at a two-day Lunch and Learn series held at the NCSU Technology Incubator on the Centennial Campus in Raleigh, and also spoke at the highly praised Coastal Connect Entrepreneur and Capital Conference hosted by UNC-Wilmington’s CIE.

Kopf led a five-week Start Up and Early Stage Legal Series of informative, hands-on classes designed for professionals involved in startups as well as established businesses and nonprofit organizations held at the NC Biotechnology Center this past summer.
