MetaMetrics Partners With Peachtree Publishers to Provide Lexile Measures for Books

DURHAM, N.C. -- MetaMetrics®, developer of the widely adopted Lexile® Framework for Reading, is pleased to announce its partnership with Peachtree Publishers. Peachtree Publishers develops Common Core titles, e-books and teacher's guides to promote early literacy skills. Peachtree Publishers will provide Lexile measures for their children's books, including many picture books, as well as fiction and non-fiction young adult titles. "Research shows that reading growth at the early years is crucial for paving the way for academic success," stated Malbert Smith, Ph.D., president and cofounder of MetaMetrics. "I commend Peachtree Publishers for offering actionable metrics that enable targeted reading during this vital developmental stage."

All of Peachtree's frontlist titles beginning with Fall 2014 will be assigned a Lexile measure. In addition to these titles, bestsellers such as We've Got a Job (1020L), 14 Cows for America (AD540L) and The Cheshire Cheese Cat (740L) have been measured. The Lexile measures of the titles are available on the Peachtree Publishers website and catalog.

"It is with great excitement that we offer the most used and researched metric for text complexity in the marketplace," said Christine Baum, M.L.S., Peachtree's School and Library Liaison. "The power of Lexile measures to match readers with text on the same scale strengthens our mission to captivate and educate young readers."

Lexile measures place readers and texts on a common scale, matching students with appropriately challenging reading materials. Recognized as the standard for individually matching readers with texts, tens of millions of students worldwide receive Lexile measures to help them choose targeted readings from more than 100 million articles, books and websites that have been measured. Lexile measures provide a framework for monitoring student progress toward college and career readiness.
