North Carolina Has New Tool for STEM Education

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – The N.C. Science, Mathematics and Technology Education (SMT) Center today announced an innovative website linking citizens to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education resources throughout the state and nation. NC STEM Center ( now serves as a one-stop shop for resources, information and activities involving STEM education throughout North Carolina.

“North Carolina is blessed with many educational resources, but few places allow the public to access those resources easily and effectively,” said NC SMT Center President and CEO Dr. Sam Houston. “With the public now has access to information on science camps, afterschool programs, funding resources and upcoming events all in one, easy-to-navigate website.”

The NC STEM Center website provides a comprehensive, searchable database of hundreds of STEM resources in North Carolina communities. These resources are cataloged by topic, location, group targeted, and other criteria.

In addition to the resource database, the online tool also includes other useful resources such as an events calendar, links to grants and funding resources, links to other national databases, and reports in the latest trends in STEM education from the local, regional, national and global perspectives.

"As superintendent of Warren County Schools, I am focused on providing our students access to STEM education," said Ray V. Spain, superintendent of Warren County Schools. "This new website will provide parents and teachers in Warren County relevant resources in STEM education."
