BioResource International, Inc. Granted FAMI-QS Certification for Quality and Safety in Feed Additives

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. -- BioResource International, Inc. (BRI), an agricultural biotechnology company specializing in the research and development of enzymes, has received the European Feed Additives and Premixtures Quality System Certification (FAMI-QS) for its manufacturing facility in Apex, N.C. The audit was conducted by Underwriter’s Laboratories, Inc. and Deutsch Quality Systems (UL-DQS), a global leader in the assessment and certification of quality and safety management systems.

“We aggressively pursued the FAMI-QS certification because it is the highest quality management standard in our market sector,” said Julian Young, Chief Operating Officer, BRI. “We are committed to ensuring the consistent high quality of our products from source to end use. Our manufacturing site is now certified as compliant with both FAMI-QS and GMP, evidence of the importance we place on contributing to a safe and reliable global food chain.”

The FAMI-QS Code of Practice is comprised of regulations that govern the approval and registration of manufacturers of feed additives for use in animal nutrition. It specifies requirements in the areas of quality and feed safety, management systems, traceability and product regulatory compliance. FAMI-QS is the only certification specific to specialty feed ingredients and their mixtures and is designed to ensure compliance with the European Union Feed Hygiene Regulation.

“FAMI-QS is a rigorous, internationally recognized standard, and provides feed mills, meat producers and consumers with a high level of confidence in all of our products and processes.” adds Brian Spencer, Director of Operations, BRI.
