NC Tech Firm Stimulates Economy with SBA HUBZone Certification

CARY, N.C.--On December 26, 2013 Carolina Advanced Digital, Inc. was certified by the US Small Business Administration as a federal HUBZone business, adding to the firm's existing Woman-owned (WOSB) and Veteran-owned (VOSB) certified Small Business statuses. The certification demonstrates Carolina Advanced Digital's commitment to stimulating economic development in Siler City, where the company was founded in 1984, now designated as a historically underutilized business (HUB) area. The firm's investment in the local economy is demonstrated by capital investments in office space, new hires, training and even locally sourced furniture and supplies.

A North Carolina family-owned business with offices in Cary and Siler City, Carolina Advanced Digital provides enterprise-class IT infrastructure and security solutions to government agencies across the country. The firm, in continuous operation for 29 years, is owned and operated by US Naval Intelligence (NIPS) veterans John and Susan Jabbusch.

Executive VP, Susan Jabbusch notes, “Since the company’s owners and two other key personnel are longtime residents of Siler City, it was especially gratifying to be able to provide for the growth of the company, while simultaneously re-energizing contributions to our own community.”

Carolina Advanced Digital has a unique advantage with its HUBZone certification. “Our organization is one of only 150 tech companies with the HUBZone status, and one of only 65 in the country that also holds a GSA contract schedule," said John Jabbusch, President and Chief Engineer. The GSA contract allows public sector clients to quickly and easily order products and services at pre-competed best prices. "That makes us one of a very small number of firms with these designations and a strong past performance validating our quality of work. This combination is invaluable to our federal customers, all of whom have strict procurement requirements for working with status-designated vendors like us.”
